Karen is always willing to go above and beyond to take care of our cardiac patients. She is a leader on her floor and a mentor. One small example of how she exemplifies this is when she was having a busy day while in charge on 6W with her own patient assignment. We needed to send a patient from CVICU, and despite being busy like the rest of her team, she took the transfer patient herself. She could have given him as an assignment to another nurse but she stated, "I need to step it up".
We admire her energy and compassion for each patient as she sacrifices herself for her team and her patient's well-bring. Also, we want to point out our appreciation for her thorough and detailed teaching she provides her patients during their stay and at discharge. She's a great asset to our CV team and we love her!
