Olivia Merle came to our floor during nursing school. She was a fabulous tech and I knew she was going to be a great nurse. I had the privilege of orienting her. She often got behind because she spent too much time with her patients educating them, looking at their medications, and daily chit-chat. I would help her when she got overwhelmed. When I became a patient of hers I realized it was those small things she did that made such a huge difference. I needed the medical stuff, but I needed someone who cared as well. It is more healing in that moment than any medication or therapy.
She also cares for her coworkers. She is always willing to help, even when time does not permit it. Whenever I come to work, and she is here I know it is going to be a good day no matter if I'm the patient or the coworker.
You couldn't ask for a better nurse. I know she cares for every patient like they are her family and I have learned so much from her.
