Peggy Lubrano was recognized for being a caring and compassionate nurse. While providing care for a critical care patient, she touched not only the patient and family but a coworker as well. The patient told his family, "Peggy was always kind and patient. She never seemed rushed. There were other nurses who offered to assist her with my care, but she would politely decline and do my care by herself." He said, "She always was available and never made me feel like a burden." Even after the patient's death, his wife went on to say, "Peggy was so good to him. She was so sweet and even came to visit him in the other unit when he left ICU."
Peggy's coworker said, "Peggy reminded me of why I became a nurse. She treats every patient like someone's grandparent, not a room number, not a diagnosis. Peggy left a lasting impression on me as well. Peggy embodies what a nurse is supposed to be, compassionate, caring and above all, kind."
