Holly is the person who helps others without realizing she is doing anything out of the ordinary. Holly’s “normal” is going the extra mile. She anticipates others’ needs and steps in before they even ask for assistance. She does this all with a smile. In fact, none of her coworkers have ever seen her in a bad mood. She is a natural mediator, wonderful communicator and bargain shopper extraordinaire. She regularly picks up items for the Surgery Center—including 10 basketball goals because she found them on sale. Each holiday season, the center sponsors an orphanage. Holly gets the list of gift items the children want, and then watches the sales so she is able to buy everything on the list and within the center’s budget. “I want to be Holly when I grow up,” a fellow nurse said. “She is an asset to our center. She is the kind of nurse that every patient and family deserves.”
