I had a total knee replacement and my nurse was Symone. What an amazing, compassionate, genuine nurse she is. The more I got to know Symone, see her work ethic, compassion for me and other patients, and learn she was a young nurse in years of experience I knew I must nominate her for the DAISY Award. The second day, change of shift came with Symone on duty for night two with me. I felt better just seeing her, knowing my first night's experience and how much I admired in her character and compassion. I knew, no matter what, we were going to have a good night.

But the night was a challenge. My pain began to rise incredibly and Symone worked with me for hours trying to get my pain under control utilizing medications, pillows/position changes, ice, and whatever she could to help me. I was genuinely concerned something was wrong with my knee as the pain was very different. She assured me that everything happening was normal and expected. She stood at my bedside and held my hand while I had a few moments of tears and asked over and over again, "Are you sure, are you sure?" and expressing to her my fears regarding my family's health issues and challenges. Honestly, for the first time, Symone let me deal with my feelings about all of it. She allowed me to cry, held my hand, listened, and asked questions. She never acted hurried, or gave me the impression she had anything else to do but take care of me and listen to a grown woman have a meltdown.

She addressed my pain and so much more. She never once made me feel like a burden, or what I was experiencing didn't matter, or needed to be dealt with. Thank you Symone, so very much. You are an incredible nurse with insight to your patients that many do not master in their years of experience as a nurse. I will not forget how you took care of me, and helped me in ways probably inexpressible.

Symone is in tune to patient's individual needs and really makes each person feel special and comfortable.
