Nurse Raquel worked for about 3-4 days with us. She learned as much sign language as she could during her shifts in order to communicate with our daughter to help her feel more comfortable and safe. She patiently listened and learned about my daughter's very rare condition, CRPS. She also came up with creative ideas to comfort my daughter within the limitations of her syndrome. She regularly shared and trained other staff with what she learned. She made the whole family feel comfortable. She never seemed bothered or annoyed by a squeaky IV line or our hundreds of questions. She was always professional, yet pleasant and warm. My daughter is deaf and blind and often hospital staff will talk over her, or worse ignore her altogether. Raquel always greeted her, spoke to her, and let her know what was going to happen and always said goodbye.
