Cami is one of those nurses who lights up the room as soon as she enters. She is one of the most compassionate and caring nurses that I've worked with in my entire nursing career. Even when times are trying, and it's super busy, she's the one who has some type of positive inspiration and helps the other nurses and health care providers get through these tough times. Cami is always happy and exemplifies someone who truly enjoys her job. She's extremely competent in her role as a nurse, and this is exhibited throughout her patient care.

Every day I see Cami give every patient her all and bend over backward to help her fellow nurses. She never has a negative attitude, and truly cares about what is best for her patients. She will never leave a fellow nurse without help. She is the most selfless person I have ever come across. There is no one like her. If there is a patient with a threatened cesarean due to failure to progress, even if the patient is not hers, she will give that patient every ounce of energy she has pulling out all of her tricks to help her have a successful vaginal delivery. Her patients trust her, I trust her.

Cami took me in as a brand new nurse, fresh out of school, with open arms. She always, never with any hesitation, was patient and kind in her instruction. She was never harsh or cruel—she never lost her way in "showing me the ropes". Furthermore, she showed every single patient, no matter race or socioeconomic status, the same loving, motherly, compassionate care every single time. She is extremely hard-working and humble. I can remember a time when we had a patient come in for signs and symptoms of labor, who we would later found out that the baby had previously passed away as there were no heart tones with ultrasound confirmation. The patient was devastated, as any woman should be. Cami physically climbed in bed with this patient, and rocked her and held her as she cried and screamed from the very bottom of her belly. She reassured her that, while this would be the absolute worst thing in life she would ever have to go through, she, in fact, WOULD get through it. Cami just kept telling her, "I've got you. I'm not going to leave you. We will do this together. Your pain is my pain. I will help carry you." After asking the patient about faith/religion, we determined that the patient was Christian. So, Cami prayed with this woman intermittently for an hour I'm sure.
The DAISY Award was created to thank nurses for extraordinary and compassionate care. That's exactly what Cami is—extraordinary and compassionate. She goes above and beyond for each and every single patient without reserve or hesitation.

Cami took exceptional care of me while I was in labor with my daughter. She was kind, patient, understanding, and exemplified professionalism every step of the way. She made sure that not only I was as comfortable as possible during my delivery process, but she took care of my family as well. Not only was Cami an exceptional nurse to me, but she is also a wonderful co-worker. Any time I attend a delivery from the NICU side and have any questions she is right there with a knowledgeable answer. Any time I need help no matter what the issue may be she lends a helping hand. It is an honor to get to witness Cami extend her kindness and loving patient care to everyone she meets.

Cami took care of me during the delivery of my first child. He was sunny side up (OP) which made for a tough delivery. She relieved the day shift nurse and took over my care for the night shift. She was so calm and encouraging during a very tough delivery. She kept saying we are going to get through this one! I really do appreciate the love she showed my family during a very stressful but happy day in our lives!!

Two weekends ago, a patient had been laboring for 3 hours at 10cm dilation with no progress. Cami was aware of the patient on the unit and asked me whether I wanted her to help the primary nurse. I spoke with the patient's primary nurse and let her know that Cami was going to come help with some ideas. I went back to the doctor's BR and told my attending to get the forceps ready because that baby likely was not going to come out but that Cami was going to try one last-ditch effort. Literally within 5 minutes, Cami had a baby out vaginally. She is so dedicated to patient care and to getting what is best for the patient and she is very aware of what is going on with the unit so she can help wherever is needed. She is a true DAISY Nurse!
