In the past year, my husband and I have been hit with one batch of bad news after another. Too many days were filled with clouds of bad news and it seemed like the sun never wanted to shine for us. I'm sure this is the emotional mindset so many families bring into the chemotherapy treatment center and I fully expect this downer attitude to permeate a cancer treatment facility, but Mary has changed all of that for me.
Mary is a ray of sunshine in my treatment and in my day every time I see her. People come to her with problems and she certainly has the medical skills to treat us, but she shares her personality, warmth, and smile to each patient as if they are family. Being sick is an isolating experience. Mary makes me feel comforted, important and valued nearly as much as my own family.
Treatment with Mary is more than medicine. Treatment from Mary is also a kind word of recognition. Treatment from Mary brings the feeling that things are good and that they will get better. Mary has done for me exactly what a DAISY should do, brighten my day, give me a smile and make me look forward to the good times to come.
