I believe that Breane is a great example of both a nurse and a Clinical Consultant. She consistently goes above and beyond to ensure that her clients have developed their workflows to be both efficient as well as focused on patient safety. One of Breane's recent clients had a period of time where they did not have a Chief Nursing Officer. Breane's hard work and relationship building skills led to this client offering her this position! We are lucky that she politely declined so we can continue to benefit from her skill set at Cerner. When Breane is developing individual workflows for her clients she ensures she is up to date with current regulations and CMS requirements. This extra step ensures that her clients will have the most accurate workflows when they go live with Cerner, and will not have to revise them right away. In addition to her client work at Cerner, Breane also has a great relationship with her Cerner associates that can be demonstrated in numerous ways. First, Breane organizes associate outings when she is at a client site. These team outings include dinners and local events. Creating these events increases team building and encourages others to interact and enjoy the town they are working in. Breane has great communication with the other solution teams as well. If there is a question about a specific workflow or build, Breane takes the lead to pull the appropriate teams together to ensure there is a thorough discussion and appropriate outcome reached. This is invaluable to our projects and greatly appreciated by the whole team. Breane has taken the lead on educating our Clinical Consultant team on LEAN processes. She has assigned readings for us and is holding a monthly book club where we can discuss our findings and talk about ways we can implement these processes in our current work. Our clients often don't have an abundance of resources and the LEAN processes will help us to best utilize the limited resources and continue to implement the best solutions. In closing, our clients and Cerner are lucky to have Breane's clinical knowledge as well as knowledge of Cerner on each project and I believe her hard work proves that she embodies the qualities of a nurse that receives the DAISY award.

The three of us have worked on many projects with Breane Lucas and she has always provided such great insight and guidance on all of them. Penny worked with her at Nebraska Orthopedic Hospital and was very impressed with her ability to relate to the client, stay on top of high-risk issues, and ALWAYS keep patient safety and user usability as a top priority. Kathleen worked with her at Creek Nation and when she was not 100% sure of the answer to a workflow question (especially since we were doing a rehab hospital) Bre always followed up to get the answer and then made sure that it was understood by the client by helping them incorporate it into their workflows. On GPHA, she has been invaluable in helping the client delve into how the workflows and the system work together since they will have to do the training for all the clinicians at 23 hospitals. For those of us without a nursing background, Bre is invaluable in helping to bridge the gap.
