Robert is a nurse whom all patients dream of having. He really, truly cares! Mom was getting very sick. I begged the day nurse to help, but she said there was nothing she could do. I begged and Mom begged for help; I was getting ready to just transfer Mom due to the situation.
Robert came down to the room as his shift had started. I told him what was wrong; his face alone showed concern. He called the doctor. Mom had bile backed up in her stomach causing her to get sicker and sicker. Robert took charge, got Mom to x-ray, and inserted a tube to remove the bile. He never left her! Yes, he checked on his other patients but was back, checking on Mom within minutes. He took care of her as if she was his own mother. He made sure she was comfortable as best he could and was there every night until she went home.
If it had not been for Robert I don't even want to think what would have happened to Mom! We were lucky to have a truly caring nurse such as Robert Martin. He is exactly what a nurse should be: Caring, Knowledgeable, and Patient Comes First. Robert refused to let Mom lay there begging for help and in pain. He fell over himself doing everything he could to help her. And he didn't stop doing all he could until she was better.
