Ling-Yu has been working clinically for years. Not only does she provide professional care for hemodialysis patients, but she also understands their needs and offers personalized care. In 2019, a patient (Ms. L) was sent to another hospital because she had fallen down on her way to work and her foot was fractured. She felt really upset during hospitalization and was not sure if she could come back to our hospital for dialysis. Therefore, Ling-Yu called her and gave her support. 3 months later, Ms. L returned to TAH for dialysis. Even if the patient was not accepting treatment in our hospital, Ling-Yu still managed to encourage her via phone calls or messages and tried to stabilize her emotions.
Another patient, Ms. L, who has been doing hemodialysis in our hospital for a long time, has schizophrenia and depression. When she feels down, she would express her emotions to Ling-Yu and gain security and trust. Ling-Yu always encourages her patients to stay positive and take care of themselves.
In another case, Mr. W, who had been to a lot of doctors, took many kinds of medicine and got confused. Ling-Yu noticed that he did not know the right time to take medicine, and did not recognize some of his medicine. Since it was really dangerous for him, after a discussion with his family, she helped him organize the pills every time and emphasized to the patient how significant it was to take the right medicine at the right time. The family also agreed with her. Mr. W has never complained about the same problem ever again.
Ling-Yu always shares and discusses her thoughts and experience with her colleagues in order to help the patients with more profound knowledge and she hopes to pay more attention to the communication and mental health care with the patients in addition to hemodialysis treatment.
