I started in the NICU with Brittany 2 years ago and I have consistently seen her prove that she is an excellent nurse and has a huge heart for her patients. Today I received report from her about a family with a complicated social history due to an extended hospital stay with their older child. They were filled with anxiety and PTSD from this experience, and this came out as aggression toward the care team. Brittany spent most of her 12-hour shift listening to the mom talk through her anxiety associated with this admission. Although I wasn't present on the day shift, her positive impact on this family was evident when they thanked her and told me about how much they appreciated that Brittany was the nurse caring for their daughter today. Brittany was put in a very emotionally taxing situation, and she chose to treat this family with kindness and empathy. This is just one example of a time that Brittany was an Extraordinary Nurse, but every time I have worked with her she has proved to be a thorough, detail-oriented nurse whose kindness shines bright. Brittany is a true DAISY Nurse.
