Daisha walks the walk that she talks. She knows what it means to own it, seek joy, and how to be compassionate. She models excellence by being a great team player and holding herself accountable to what is expected.
The small details are what makes a patient experience. We had a patient broken from head to toe. She was majorly depressed from having surgery after surgery for the past month in a half that she was here. She needed some motivation and someone to perk her up. Daisha did just that by painting her toe nails her favorite color. The patient's grandmother was even happy about that. Daisha always makes our patients feel like they are the only ones in the building.
One of the most recent patients that we had was being a bit challenging, and several staff were really uneasy caring for her because of how the patient was behaving and talking to them. Daisha was the one who could get her under control. She made her smile. She showed her that no matter how you feel, we are here to care for you. She held conversations with her to get her to open up about her concerns and fears of what she was facing. This made caring for this patient better for those to follow. She requested her back each time she came to the hospital. Daisha brought her favorite food soon as she was able to eat and tolerate solids. This was a big win for the patient.
Daisha shows compassion every day for what she does and for her team. She wants to see everyone be successful in what they do. She even followed her orientee from days to night so make sure that her training was consistent with the overall goal we were trying to reach. She fills in our vacancies. Her caring does not stop at her shift. If the patient returns, she shows up to put a smile on their face. They never forget how she made them feel during their time of need.
