LaDonna Kratz is a great charge nurse and mentor. She is always willing to help others, train new staff, and be a resource for others. She is beyond giving of her time, energy, and own money to make others happy. When our heart pillows were back ordered, she spent her own time and money to make personalized heart pillows for patients like with their favorite sports team. The patients and families have been so appreciative of these.
Another example of LaDonna's character is when she went to the inauguration of President Obama. She bought her airline tickets and room and was ready to see him become president. On her way to the event, amid a large crowd, a man drops to the ground. Other people walked by but not her. She stopped to perform CPR. As a result, she missed seeing the man she so much admired become president. To me, this is a shining example of what a nurse is and what a nurse should be. The patient always comes first.
