Amy Hester – RN Clinical Services Manager – H8 Neurosurgery/Neurology
Here is what 3 fellow employees had to say about Amy:
“I do not think this form is big enough to list everything that Amy does on a daily basis for her patients. Amy is always front and center when it comes to improving patient outcomes. She is innovative, and works to engage her staff in research-based improvements. When I call Amy to inquire about an issue with her patients, she always knows the situation and is already working to fix whatever has occurred. Amy is willing to learn new things, as well as share her experience and wealth of knowledge with others. She wants her unit to be the best and she wants her patients to have the best. I believe that Amy Hester is a shining example of not only nursing leadership, but also the compassion, caring, and commitment to excellence that all of us at UAMS should strive to attain.” Jamie P.
“Amy is an outstanding patient advocate and leader. She has taken the issue of patient falls and made innovative changes to reduce their risk of injury from a fall. She has educated her staff on risks and interventions, and successfully guided them through a change process. She is compassionate, knowledgeable, and effective at her job, and keeps the focus on the patient.” Marinelle P.
“A patient needed to be out of restraints in order to participate in PT/OT. The patient was Hispanic and non-English speaking with a closed head injury in Surgical Services. Amy volunteered to have this patient transferred to her unit, developed an intensive nursing plan with her staff, and then executed the plan. Amy exemplifies what we desire in a leader; her enthusiasm and creativity need to be cloned. Amy’s leadership is also reflected in her staff’s actions.” Rowena B-P.
