After a patient was discharged home, Cathy realized that there were unsigned prescription-comfort medications in the chart. She obtained signatures and the DEA number. She called the patient's wife and made arrangements to drop the prescriptions off at the patient's home after work. Cathy stated that she went there and the patient's wife wanted her to see the patient and meet their cat, etc. Cathy said that she was there at least a half hour. I feel that Cathy went above and beyond in regards to fixing an error that was not her fault. She indicated that she was not told about the prescriptions existence or that she needed to obtain signatures for them. Cathy never complained or had a negative attitude. She just problem solved and fixed the error and got the comfort medication prescriptions to the patient.
