I have "GBS", diagnosed here at St. Joe's Hospital and readmitted recently with severe pain, right flank. The Urologist ran several tests and now I am in the care of the pain doctors. We will work on the pain source and management. During this stay, both doctors and nurses spent generous amounts of time explaining the pain control and tests - how I can help myself, the side effects of each medication, and answered fully, all of my and my family's questions. From an amazing smile to a hand squeeze, Madilyn found a way to comfort me, to encourage me to think positive. She knew my family members by name. When Madilyn was treating me, regardless of the discomfort or disappointment, it ended with me seeing she really cared about me. All the caregivers without exception were great, but Madilyn gave her time and genuine kindness. It was not one situation, it was every interaction.
