Recently when I arrived at the hospital for an MRI, I discovered that my orthopedic surgeon and the radiology department had not scheduled anesthesia for me for my procedure. Debra was very patient explaining that the medication they would give me would lessen my fear and explained the pros and cons. I decided I truly needed a general anesthetic for the procedure due to a traumatic experience in my past. It looked like there might not be a way to find an Anesthesiologist available. Knowing that I live over an hour away, Debra began making multiple calls to find an Anesthesiologist to help me that day.
Due to her extraordinary concern for me, she found a physician who could help me later that day. She checked on my husband all afternoon offering him coffee and updates on me. She stayed with us through the whole experience and even brought us boxed lunches so we would not have to stop on our way home when we left at 6:00 pm. I've never had such a totally involved nurse who took a challenging situation and skillfully demonstrated all of the attributes of a nurse who is deserving of the DAISY Award. She truly deserves this honor.
