In most cases, The Family Birthplace at St. Joseph Hospital - St. Charles is a place of joy and celebration. But every so often, parents and nurses there are forced to deal with the unthinkable situation of losing an unborn child. Thus was the case for one such patient, who during an extraordinarily difficult time felt supported by Matt in multiple ways.
"Matt was present when an ultrasound revealed that my 29-week baby no longer had a heartbeat. He graciously drove me to another hospital to be seen by my OB and stayed with me until my husband arrived. Matt was compassionate, selfless, kind and empathetic, and took care of me at a difficult time without being intrusive. I cannot thank him enough for his tremendous compassion."
Our thanks go out to Matt and all our labor & delivery nurses for handling sensitive situations like these with grace and dignity.
