One of the most trying times of my life was being told my mother only had a little bit of time left on this earth. I spent 10 days and nights at Orange Park Medical Center while my mom was being diagnosed with end-stage lung cancer. We caught it late. In such a trying time, you have to brace yourself. What a time of tears for me watching my mom spend her last days in the hospital.
Many nurses were great, but Sherri Alexander went far above normal nursing duties. She saw I was upset about a situation involving my mother and she grabbed me by the hand as I cried my eyes out to her. She not only took great care of my mom, but she embraced me, "the grieving and emotional daughter". I was feeling extremely overwhelmed with sadness. But with the help of RN Sherri, I was able to get through it all. She gave exceptional care to my mom in her last days. She kept my mother pain free and she also was a big help to the family as we endured this unexpected tragedy of realizing our mother was about to die.
Thanks to Sherri for being my shoulder to cry on and making sure that I made it through all the turmoil of watching my mom's breathing pattern slowly decrease. Thank you for keeping her pain free and for always answering the nurse call light in a timely manner and always friendly attitude with much professionalism. You made our experience as gentle as it could have possibly been.
