Keith always goes above and beyond, and when two consecutive nights were challenging for me for different reasons, Keith made a difference.
First, I had a patient with a serious infection who was combative and restless. The parents were concerned that their child was uncomfortable all night long. Keith was amazing in helping me communicate with the appropriate medical teams, and helping me to get answers which led to an updated plan of care. When the plan of care changed, Keith helped me meet the patient's medical needs and keep the parents updated and calm. He made a very long night less stressful.
The next night I had a challenging patient and Keith once again continued to check in on me throughout the night. The patient needed to leave the unit for a procedure, and Keith asked if I would like someone to come down with me, which really showed his concern for the safety of our staff and patients. While giving report, Keith stopped by and didn't leave until I was done, making sure once again that I didn't need further help. It's great to know that Keith is such a compassionate and caring nurse.

Keith has always exemplified the qualities of a strong RN, including skill, knowledge, and genuine compassion. Keith has a passion for educating at the bedside and in the classroom. During any night, if you walk in our unit, you will find Keith hard at work managing a complex patient and doing it with a calm demeanor, a smile, and teaching a younger nurse all at the same time.
