Amber Miller was providing care to a patient in the ER who recently became homeless. During her ER stay Amber worked very hard to find a shelter for the patient but was unsuccessful and had to discharge the patient without a home to go to. After hearing from security that the patient was asleep on the Good Samaritan Hospital lawn she continued to successfully find a shelter in Evansville. Amber worked with Knox County EMS to get the patient a free ride there. While waiting for her ride, Amber had the patient wait in the ER and provided her with a meal, blanket and pillow. Amber is the example of what a nurse should be. She went above and beyond to show kindness and care to her patient. Without Amber's help that night, the patient would have been sleeping outside in the wet grass.
