Melissa was warm and inviting from the start and very attentive to all my wants and needs. When I became excruciatingly uncomfortable during labor, she did everything she could to get me through. If my family had to leave, she stayed at my bedside rubbing my back and legs. She was very concerned about my modesty and bent over backward to see that I was never exposed in front of anyone I wasn't okay with. She went out of her way to make me smile or laugh every time she came into my room. Once labor became too much and I had to have a C-section, I broke down and Melissa teared up right along with me and my family and encouraged me the entire time she prepped me. She knew how frightened I was and did her best to make me smile, even so much as dancing with a baby blanket as I was waiting in the OR. My son was born at 10 pm and her shift ended at 11, but she stayed with me. The recovery nurse, though not intentionally, in fact, hurt me very much massaging my uterus after my surgery. 15 min later Melissa did it and didn't put me through half as much pain. My recovery didn't go well, I had a lot of trouble initially after the procedure. I asked her at 1 am why she was still here and her response touched my heart. She said, "Because you're not okay yet." She stayed until I fell asleep and said goodbye before she finally went home. The entire staff was absolutely fantastic and my experience was great, but I will always remember Melissa and the way she took two extra miles for me. She is exactly what you would define as an Extraordinary Nurse.
