Congratulations to JoAnn Kennedy-Hoyte, BSN, RN, who received MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital's first DAISY Nurse Leader Award during the Nurses' Week luncheon. This award recognizes how nurse leaders make a difference in patient care because of their leadership.
JoAnn received many nominations in which there was a common theme stating that she is not afraid to put on her scrubs and do bedside nursing. As one nomination noted, "She is committed to her team and the values that we stand for. She is a patient advocate as well as an advocate for her team. She has instituted a team who wants to follow her and assists her in her success. She achieved this trust by championing her ideas and sharing her visions every chance that she gets. It is a passion of hers which you can see when you speak to her. A passion that stems from her many years of experience." As another nomination concluded, "She exemplifies a TRUE leader. Her actions speak as a leader's should. She is truly an extraordinary leader. MedStar has a rare gem."
