I was introduced to Allie this morning. She took over the care of Mom and provided excellent care. She immediately acknowledged after recognizing that Mom has Alzheimer's. She talked softly and was professional, yet caring. When she had tasks to perform, she gave Mom her baby doll to focus on, encouraging Mom to focus on the doll while she was giving meds, checking wounds, etc. At every opportunity she softly explained what she would be doing, and why. The day was the most pleasant episode-free day we have had. She made the statement, "I love my job." It shows. If your department could create a model of the "Nurse Awesome", Allie could be the prototype.
