I have had the fortune to have Cindy as my lead consultant for the last couple of years on my current client project. As the project started I requested the most flexible and out of the box thinking lead consultant Cerner (Siemens at the time) had who also was a nurse. We were about to take over a disaster project where a previous group had tried to implement our solutions developed for the acute market at a long-term behavioral health multi-site facility without involvement from the client or the end users. I needed to find a lead who both I and the client quickly could trust and put our full belief in - and I surely did find her. People who know me, know it takes a lot to impress me, but Cindy really has.
Cindy's nursing background, extensive knowledge in the ins and outs of our solutions and stress on always doing what is right for the patient clearly shines through when she always stresses on the importance in making decisions/configuration changes that will never put the patient at harm. She is very honest with our client if there are flaws in our solution and works with our team to figure out an acceptable workaround to be used till a fix is made available by Cerner. But Cindy doesn't stop there. When important enough, she stresses on me the need to get a fix made available from our development team and helps me to clearly communicate the impact of the issue to our internal organization to make sure they understand the issue from an end user perspective and once they understand, agrees to fix it. Her energy is amazing to observe and it's not a question to anyone that she really, really enjoys what she's doing.
The way Cindy interacts with all of our client's ends users is a pleasure to observe. She has gained full trust of the project team, the nursing staff, as well as the physicians, psychologists, social workers, rehab and lab departments, only to name a few. Not only is she highly respected by the client's end users, but also by the entire client senior leadership team. The client director of health information technology has stated on several occasions that "Cindy is irreplaceable" - and I can do nothing but agree. Cindy's knowledge not only in the technical field but also in the medical area has helped us turn a very unhappy client into maybe one of the most satisfied clients Cerner currently has.
But Cindy's devotion to nursing and patient care doesn't stop when the office closes, it extends way beyond Cerner and our clients. During weekends, in her spare-time from her regular work, she is a devoted Pre-Hospital RN and helps her community out by delivering emergency care. Care that on occasions have gotten her stranded away from home, freezing, soaking wet, staying in a hotel due to weather and impassable roads, but again, nothing that stopped her from doing what she commits herself to: care for others.
In three simple words: Cindy is indispensable.
