My brother, was hospitalized due to an intestinal blockage which compromised his serious heart condition. Jenn Iverson was assigned to my brother's case for most of this time.
Jenn treated my brother who has a significant developmental disability coupled with short term memory issues with the utmost kindness, compassion, and patience. She took the needed time to answer his questions to ensure that he understood, to the best of his ability, all that was happening.
Jenn was the respected leader of my brother's care. She coordinated the support my brother was receiving between multiple doctors, residents, and interns coupled with keeping both me and his staff from Developmental Services Center abreast of doctor's orders and my brother's status.
Jenn actively listened to lengthy, complex familial medical history and immediately updated doctors of the information she deemed important to my brother's case. She sought the advice of both me and the staff from Developmental Services Center (DSC) as to how to best serve my brother and applied this information while care giving.
Jenn honored my brother by speaking directly to him (rather to me and DSC staff). This allowed my brother to develop trust in her. Jenn would then explain, in greater detail, the specifics of doctor's orders and tests to me and DSC staff in a setting apart from my brother. This extra time to explain needed information in a manner that would not heighten my brother's anxiety was so appreciated. I felt that we were all a team- a unit with Jenn as lead- ensuring not only my brother's physical health- but his mental and emotional as well.
Spending years interacting with both doctors and nurses with my family, it is easy to spot a gem! Jenn Iverson is that to Carle and the patients she serves.
