Ellen went out of her way to understand my anxiety to surgery, she held my hand while the Anesthesiologist put me to sleep, prior to that in the Pre-Op Room she listened to my recent loss of my 40-year-old son. She gave me the best medicine, not from a bottle, the human touch, and compassion. It only took an extra 5 minutes, however, not having any living family, well it just was a wonderful gesture of kindness that was the high point of easing into a very stressful time. Thank you, Ellen, for remembering to be human in the midst of a room full of machines.
