There are truly not enough words to describe the powerful, joyful, and dedicated influence of Joyce, but here's my best attempt.
Joyce was the first nurse I encountered upon entering the ward. Entering a mental inpatient ward is undoubtedly a traumatic experience induced by egregious circumstances. And yet, upon simply witnessing Joyce's smile and jubilant personality, I certainly felt warmly welcomed. I realized that things were going to be alright just as a result of her presence. Her intense zeal to better understand the brain while at the same time ameliorating the well-being of each and every one of her patients smoothly is truly admirable. What is even more inspiring is her incessant expression of joy and warmth that is truly contagious.
It is truly amazing that her jovial and loving personality remains ceaseless amidst such an arduous job as a psychiatric nurse. I would not be in the position I am in discharging - feeling quite safe, confident in myself, and aware of the beautiful joy life brings- without having encountered her during my treatment. She has truly contributed to saving my life. Joyce's incredible work ethic, immense energy, and passion for bringing joy to the most desperate are truly inspiring. I will never forget how she has changed my life. "If you can't find joy, find Joyce!"
