Recently, Deb took care of my brother, who was admitted for a severe burn on his foot from a cooking accident. Having never been in the hospital, my brother was very nervous and scared, but also in awful pain. Deb not only made him feel comfortable, but she made every effort to educate him about his pain medication and ensured he was as comfortable as possible. When it came time for him to be discharged, Deb gave excellent and thorough discharge instructions and made sure he understood everything before leaving, including information about his medications and dressing changes. She also coordinated with the physicians to make sure he was sent home with a work note; something he was very stressed over. As a fellow employee, I visited my brother in his room to check on him throughout the day and Deb was more than accommodating and kind. She even took down my phone number to the unit and called me to give me updates. Deb's compassion, skill, and kindness makes me proud to have her as a colleague and she is a shining example of a DAISY Nurse. Thank you, Deb, for taking care of my little brother in his time of need.
