Kelly is always trying to help staff to reach their personal goals. She works with your schedule for school, home, and family. Kelly is always teaching others in order to improve the patient experience and improve their skills. Kelly is one of the kindest, most compassionate people that I know. She always goes above and beyond by recognizing special events for staff, doing special things for patients and their families. Most recently, Kelly bought balloons and a "get well" card for a patient feeling overwhelmed. She recognizes staff events such as birthdays by buying cakes, lunch, etc. Kelly has been known to have pizza delivered to the unit when she knows it's been an extremely hard day. She donates her time to the community, such as the Hope House, and Barnabas Center. Kelly never talks about it, she just does it. We love and respect her for the person that she is. Kelly is truly the standard of Spirit of Magnet. She worked hard as a staff RN on Med/Surg and now is surpassing all of our expectations as Nurse Manager of Surgical and AAU. She always strives to be the best and instills that in her staff. Kelly believes in the Baptist Mission statement and lives it every day. She works with all staff to reach the best solution in every situation. Kelly knows that by respecting her staff and working together with them, the ultimate goals will be achieved. Kelly is truly a remarkable leader and an even better person; she is definitely a DAISY Nurse Leader!
***
Kelly was a staff nurse on MSU prior to becoming Manager over our surgical unit and AAU. Since becoming manager, she has put in the most effort and worked tirelessly to provide our patients AND staff with the most positive experiences possible. The manager role is certainly not an easy position and our staff is most complimentary of Kelly and the way she leads. She is always willing to listen to staff, and the answer to their issue may not be immediate or even possible, but she makes them feel heard and appreciated during the process. That trait is invaluable in leadership. She proactively rounds on patients on our unit, and staff, asking if there is anything she can do to help. So many times, she works late and does many 'extras' for staff (bringing in treats, Starbucks, etc.) that may seem trivial, but sure goes a long way for a nurse or CNA working 12+ hours on their feet. Those extra touches make staff feel appreciated, especially on rough days. Kelly is available, willing, present, and attentive to her units, patients, and staff. I have been with Baptist for a long time and I am sincerely impressed with her care of this unit and selfless attention to detail. We are very grateful for Kelly.
Thank You, Kelly, for all you do for our team members, patients, and families!
