Harvey works the night shift as a full time employee. In my book that in itself is dedication to his profession. He typifies all the characteristics that the DAISY award was created for, "Extraordinary nurses".

Why you ask is he so extraordinary. Let me tell you. Harvey is the ultimate professional nurse in the way that he carries himself, in the way that he approaches his patients, and his patients remain at his focus the entire time he is here. Harvey defines team player. He never complains, he comes to work on time each and every shift he is scheduled and will pick up extra shifts when needed. He must be his manager's dream come true.

Harvey has also taken the National certification for Med Surg nursing and will be soon sitting for the exam.

Harvey recognizes "SICK". He can quickly recognize and respond to a very ill patient or that patient that we as nurses refer to as about to "Crash and Burn". Harvey has been involved in many codes on the unit and he never ceases to impress his colleagues with his skills and abilities. He is the type of person that flies under the radar as he is so quiet and makes a very soft imprint on the earth. I sometimes feel we take him for granted. He never involves himself in the drama that we as nurses often find ourselves involved in. He is far too wise and has little tolerance for such nonsense in his profession.

He will be embarrassed to receive the award but I know Harvey will quietly be very grateful for the recognition of his work.
