Sharon and Latrecia were both at the Kenner MOB attending meetings as leads of their clinics. On their way out from a long day, they were approached by a physician in the parking lot who asked for their help with a patient in the parking lot that was in distress. They both responded and found a patient next to his truck sweaty, chest pain and complaining of shortness of breath. The doctor left them there and they called 911. When they did not get a very quick response and out of concern for this man they sprang into action. They placed the man in the passenger side of his truck and drove him to the ER entrance. They got him a wheelchair and escorted him to the ER . They stayed with the patient until he was taken back, even talking to him to obtain some important information concerning medical history. They acted as liaison between staff and the patient's family on the phone.

This patient was here working from another state and had no family here. These ladies stayed with this patient until 9pm, long after their shift was over. Stating "we are nurses and this is what we do". The next morning they called the hospital convinced he would still be admitted and found that they had discharged him. They called to check on him and in finding he was still not feeling well, they made him a follow-up appt. with an internal medicine doctor in Kenner.

The great, on the spot care and dedication to see this through, even the following day, shows the true spirit of a DAISY Nurse.
