This month's DAISY recognition ceremony was particularly moving because Rafael Ohli, BSN, RN, a nurse for 2 years, was present to read aloud the nomination he wrote for Mary Wynbeek, BA, RN, who has been practicing nursing for 30+ years.
"Thank you SO MUCH for your help on Saturday night with a patient that was delusional, paranoid and aggressively agitated. The ease with which you de-escalated his temperament was truly inspiring - I'd categorize it as zen-nursing!...I learned a great deal about how to manage a volatile situation."
Raf finished his nomination by thanking Mary for the opportunity to bear witness to "the fruits of your skill, experience, practice and ultimately your compassion, truly shine forth as an example to myself and others."
