We had just recovered from downtime with EPIC-still recovering, when we received notice from EEMS that there was a major fire in downtown Raleigh. We needed to prepare to receive 20-25 patients. A few moments later, Erin called after receiving a smart notice of the event. She asked what the situation was. After being told she said, "I'll be right there!"
About 10-15 minutes later, Erin was here making sure everyone was notified and all preparations were in place. Even though our management was here, Eris was a great resource because she had recently been involved in a community event disaster drill. She had just put together a disaster preparedness notebook for the ED. She also recently ran a drill for the ED charge nurses mimicking a recent Rex mass casualty drill. Erin made sure correct records were done to account for the event. She also prepared an after-action report about the event to improve our next event response. Erin is deserving of this award because she went above and beyond for her team even though she was not even scheduled to work.
