Mike is a very compassionate, intelligent, proficient, and patient RN. I had the wonderful opportunity to work with Mike on the night shift until he switched to the dayshift due to family reasons. During this short period, Mike was able to calm anxious patients without the patient knowing. He has a calm, magnetic, and respectful attitude that patients are drawn to him and become compliant. At the same time, he is proficient and efficient in his nursing skills and always maintains patient safety. When there was a last minute physician order, Mike ensures it is taken care of before he leaves work or start the procedures for the next shift RN while keeping the patient safe.
There has been a lot of adjustments and flexibility for our new unit (5E). Mike has consistently maintained a positive and "go with the flow" attitude. He inquires how coworkers are doing and offers assistance. In addition, he arrives onto the unit 30-40 minutes early in the morning and offers help to the night shift RN's and sometimes helps out with some turns and code browns. I really enjoy working with Mike Maye and wish there were more like him.
