Susan MacNamara, RN is a wonderful nurse on the 2Monti Surgery Unit at North Shore University Hospital. Susan is always the type to go above and beyond for her patients and fellow staff. Her nomination included a beautiful story on how she made a grandmother's wish come true.

Susan facilitated the meeting of a grandmother and her grandchild for the first time. This grandmother had been a patient in the hospital for at least 10 weeks and has not had the privilege of meeting her new granddaughter. However, on a weekend Susan was working, this grandmother got to meet her granddaughter right outside the main lobby of the hospital. Visitors, employees and strangers were all touched by this moment captured on camera where "grandma" met the newest member of her family. The patient wasn't sure why she was being taken outside on this warm, sunny day in her recliner and was completely shocked when she was greeted by her family. The baby is already 4 months old and never met her grandmother. The patient describes the moment as being "priceless" and her face shows that emotion.

Susan touches the lives of the many she cares for. She is an extraordinary nurse and we are proud to have her on the North Shore University Hospital Team. Thank you Susan for all that you do.
