Erin Krall is the epitome of what a nurse should be. She is caring, tender, compassionate, understanding and most of all, loving. I had the privilege of working with Erin early in her career when she was an EKG Tech in Cardiopulmonary. Working with her was very enjoyable as she was reliable and great to all the patients. Now seeing her as an amazing nurse, this hospital is lucky to have such a fine employee. I want to give an example of Erin's character.
As I was performing an echocardiogram, the patient's wife was very nervous about her husband's condition. Erin walked into the room to check on the patient and noticed the wife looked very scared. The patient's wife started crying and immediately Erin embraced her with a caring hug and spoke calmly to the patient.
What stuck out the most to me was that Erin did not provide false hope. She explained everything that they are doing everything they can to help get her husband better. Erin focused solely on being engaged with the stressed spouse, she was not thinking about the many other things she had on her plate or any other patients she had to take care of. Erin stayed connected and did not leave until the spouse had calmed down.
The hospital can be a sad place at times as a patient or family member, the news might not always be good, and the pain may take time to subside. However, when a facility has a nurse that is genuinely kind, outstanding and exceptional in caring for patients, it can make all the hurt, pain, and suffering be more bearable. I am honored to work with such a fine individual and that's why Erin Krall deserves The DAISY Award.
