Sunitha is a very brave and enthusiastic nurse that comes into work every day with a smile on her face that ignites the unit. She is very experienced and highly motivated. She is humble, kindhearted, caring, compassionate, and loves what she does for her patients, staff, and the unit. Without any doubt, especially during this time, she has been exceptional with the way she treats her colleagues and patients.
She is one of our elite charge nurses who exudes greatness in that role. Sunitha is always willing to help others even when she is busy with her own patients. Having her on the unit makes a huge difference because she does not only care about her patients, but she cares about others as well. If there is a patient not doing well on the unit, she is always present to help critically think and talk through things to ensure something is not missing. When not in charge, she helps whoever is in charge to ensure the unit runs smoothly. She will go with the charge nurse to code blues in other departments, insert IVs, help with staffing, and the list continues.
I remember having three patients, one was unstable; Sunitha went out of her way to ensure my other two patients were well taken care of and their needs were met. She gave a bed bath to one of them and constantly checked on me to make sure I was okay. She is the star of the unit. She will also step up and take a third patient if needed. She will also take patient assignments when she is in charge to minimize the patient load on the team. She not only cares about her patients but she also cares about the staff and their families as well. Everyone on the unit loves Sunitha and her positivity and calm demeanor. Even during this pandemic, she always tries to lift the spirit of everyone.
