I have the great pleasure of working alongside Glenn McGarvey who is a remarkable RN and person. Glenn's innate ability to communicate, interact, and advocate has had a positive impact on patients and my colleagues. Glenn strives for kindness, respect, and fairness. You need to only know him for a few moments to understand how deeply he cares. These qualities make him a superb nurse. Glenn makes the most nervous patient feel at ease and has them quickly laughing as they are wheeled into the Operating Room. People feel safe with him.
A surgeon recently had a case and was working into the night when Glenn heard it was the surgeon's birthday and all the surgeon wanted was a cheeseburger. Because of Glenn, that doctor had it much better than expected - when the procedure was over, a cheeseburger with fries greeting the birthday boy. It mattered to Glenn that this person's birthday did not go unrecognized.
I recently was having a rough day at work and Glenn, who was passing by heard about the events going on and jumped in and helped - this is the type of guy he is, he has got your back.
People feel safe and loved when in the presence of Glenn. He celebrates people daily with his skills, his compassion, and his integrity. It is time to celebrate Glenn McGarvey with the DAISY Award.
