Without neglecting other patients, Frank gave me attention making sure he clearly understood information, without ambiguity, which I was providing in hopes it would be helpful to the doctors. He asked thoughtful, probing, questions on anything I reported to him because my condition varied rapidly throughout each day.
During almost all the time I was in Feinberg, my bed had an alarm if I should get out of bed without using the call button and having someone in the room. I did my best to minimize this, doing for myself all I could such as using the urinal in bed because I could recognize the large demands, the workload, on the nurses. When I had no choice except to call for assistance Frank came to my room quickly to handle things that were urgent, or he made sure to find someone else who could respond to help me. If my problem was one requiring a nurse's knowledge they would advise him.
From Frank, I felt a sense of compassion and empathy that stood out and was extraordinary. He encouraged me with positive input when I despaired from the severe pain from the undiagnosed illness which responded very little to any treatment tried by doctors during all this time.
Frank is a true DAISY Nurse for the excellent nursing care he provided during my 9 days in the hospital (he was not working on all 9 days). I'm sure all his patients would agree with my opinion.
