Devra is one the most compassionate, caring, and philanthropic nurses I know. Not only is she an amazing presence at the bedside, but she goes out of her way to change patients' lives while she's off duty too. Most recently, Devra planned a surprise for a patient who's spent her whole life in and out of the hospital due to her complicated cardiac defect. "Princess for a day" was an all-day adventure to make this patient feel like royalty. She was picked up from her house and driven to a beauty salon to be pampered. A princess dress was awaiting her arrival along with some sweet and savory treats. Elsa from Frozen also showed up to have a princess singing session. Afterward, a horse and carriage came to take them for a magical ride. The patient and her Mother were given a night stay in a hotel where the bed was laden with more gifts! Devra planned the activities and organized all the donations for this special day. There is no doubt in my mind this patient truly felt like a princess all day instead of feeling like a sick kid.
