Crystal is an amazing nurse and person. Throughout this difficult time, she has really stepped up to the plate. Crystal was one of the many individuals locked in the hospital during the storm. We had a bed bound patient during this time that was discharged, but could not go home due to her home health equipment being flooded and her caretakers being displaced. Crystal spent days working with doctors, case management, and the patient to ensure that the patient would receive the items that she needed after discharge. She went above and beyond to ensure that the patient felt comfortable and taken care of during her stay here.
Crystal had been working four straight days and been away from her family, but when she was able to go home she started assisting staff members that were affected by the flooding. She organized groups to go to employees houses (including herself) to help gut them, she washed employees' clothes and organized a donation for one of our staff members that lost everything and was having a baby in a few weeks. Crystal even assisted a fellow employee by going to their home to help clean up the yard and was able to find another staff member that volunteered to cut the grass as well. Throughout this difficult time, Crystal has truly lived out the Ochsner Mission by serving not only her patients but the staff she works with as well. Crystal is an amazing individual and an asset to our department.
