Muriel aka "Myrt" was nominated due to her compassion and kindness she showed to this particular family. She went above and beyond her call of duty and took the time to explain, answer questions and reassure them during their labor. Myrt has been a nurse for over 25 years and no doubt she has the nursing skills and patient cares down pat. But what she shows to our patients in the Birth Center is her sweetness, kind heartedness and comforting demeanor. Even when days are hectic she "has the time" for her patients. She provides them with compassionate communication and makes them feel at ease. Just this little extra time that is given to her patients has an invaluable impact and long lasting impression to our patients and families.
I have worked with Myrt for 9 years now and I couldn't tell you how many times a patient asks me if Myrt is on in the morning because they loved having her as a nurse and would like her to care for them again. I know right now that Myrt is thinking " I'm just doing my job" but your knowledge, your caring attitude and your kindness that you show to your patients makes you so deserving of this DAISY Award.
