Kim is a dedicated nurse who has proven she would give all in any situation.
Last week Kim came to work to borrow some equipment for a school project not related to work. Kim was in her unit when she overheard the charge nurse on the phone saying that they had no one who could help and they were extremely busy. So what does Kim do? Kim threw her belongings in her locker, threw on a pair of blue scrubs and ran down to the emergency department to offer her expertise and assistance.
Kim was a lifesaver not only to the ED staff but she truly saved a patient's life. Things were not going well, we were on a level 1 massive transfusion. We encountered problems with supplies and providers but Kim was always thinking ahead and providing alternative suggestions and support.
Kim is not afraid to speak up when she knows something isn't right. She is determined to preserve to obtain what is needed for the situation.
I know that having Kim come down to the ED was a huge relief of fear to our staff. Kim remained calm in an extremely emergent situation.
Kim saved a life and offered so much support and guidance to the situation.
