I write this story as a member of the leadership team as well as a family member. Kaylee cared for my great uncle in his final days of life. She saw that his condition was deteriorating and advocated for hospice care. When Kaylee got resistance from his primary physician, she continued to seek ways to get him the comfort care that he so desperately needed. Kaylee treated the patient as if it was her own family member. She worked tirelessly to make him comfortable and try to get him to eat so that he could gain some energy. Kaylee also worked with the hospice team to find a diagnosis that was fitting for hospice so that he could make the transition. My family is eternally grateful for the care that he received. Many of them expressed their gratitude to me to pass along to the staff. They stated that because of the care their loved one received, they would never choose a different hospital and because of Kaylee's care, they felt at home.

A recent shift in which I worked with Kaylee, was a time that I saw exceptional care provided by her to one of her patients. This patient was a 90-year-old male who was in severe pain and would call out to the nurses' station. He was not eating or drinking, was not able to take medications, and cried out often in pain. Kaylee, went above and beyond to make sure that the physicians who were working that day took the right measures of care for this patient. Kaylee always shows a great level of compassion for each and every one of her patients, but on this day, in particular, it was such an honor to see her fight for this elderly man to get the care that he deserved.
