Julie cared for a patient with developmental delays who had been on the unit for over 3 months. She showed extra care and compassion for the patient each shift that she was assigned to her. On two occasions, Julie took the time to paint her nails and assist her with her emotional needs. On the patient's day of discharge, Julie made a sign for the patient and had each staff member sign it. The patient was so happy and could not stop smiling at this small gesture. Julie always personalizes her care and exhibits the culture of yes. She demonstrates this by finding out what each patient's needs are and then goes the extra mile. Many times I have observed Julie assisting the waiting room visitors from another service line. From simple items such as blankets to comforting a visitor who needs a shoulder. Julie brought a roll of stickers in for our younger visitors as well as coloring books. Julie shows caring for her co-workers, visitors, and patients. She is a great role model.
