I came to the hospital in very bad pain. I met Mariyamma and I felt she was the most caring person I've ever met. I've been in the hospital plenty of times but never met a person so nice. She makes you feel at home, she prays for you, signs to you, and keeps your room and bed very clean. If all nurses were like her hospitals would be the bomb. She's always on time, smiles, and seems like there's nothing she wouldn't do to make you happy. I know once I leave here, I would even want to continue to talk to her but for now, I just have to say I love that nurse, and I'm serious! She's a down to earth lady even if nothing comes out of what I'm saying she has a wonderfully special place in my heart, and I have told my family about her she's the greatest!

A patient in the burn center was discharged with an incomplete narcotic prescription. The outside pharmacy refused to fill the prescription, so the patient called the burn center asking staff to assist him. He was panicking and wanted to be readmitted for pain control. Mariyamma calmed the patient down and called Health Care Partner doctor after spending time researching about the patient. The first doctor referred Mariyamma to call another doctor, then another doctor. After spending nearly 90 minutes on the phone she was about to troubleshoot the prescription issue. The patient got his medication and no readmission through the ER. Mariyamma went above and beyond to help this patient. I have known her for many years and I always hear patients complimenting the nursing care she gives at night.

I worked on Friday night in the burn unit and there was a patient that was discharged earlier in the day. He did not get his pain medicine filled and was calling the burn unit upset and Mariyamma took the time to call the appropriate doctors to make this happen and finally after an hour on the phone with doctors, the patient got his pain medicine. I'm so proud to work with such dedicated and compassionate worker. She made me proud to be a burn team member and I was wanted to say she put a smile on my face, and I realized the dedication of the burn team. Thank you, Mariyamma, for being you!
