As a past member of the Friends of Froedtert Board, I have always admired the quality of the various members of the staff who made presentations to the board. This is the first time that my family has been a patient at the hospital.
A brief summary of my wife’s stay. She entered the hospital emergency room with pain in her neck, head and chest. After being admitted the staff was unable to wake her up. After a Code 4 she had two brain surgeries and was in several different rooms at the hospital, eventually being discharged yesterday.
The entire staff, from the doctors, nurses, aides and others, was extremely professional. However, I would like to single out Amy Slavik (nurse manager on 9NT). Not only was she such a professional but she is the most caring person we met at the hospital over the three plus weeks my wife was in the hospital. After the Code 4, she was helpful in getting a chair for me so I would not collapse and have me become another patient. She met me at the family care room while my wife went through her first brain surgery. She also visited several times as we made the rounds in the different sections of the hospital. And now that we are home, she visited our Caring Bridge site to send us her warm regards.
Amy epitomizes what a health care professional should be; both superb in her ability to perform her job but also such a caring, lovable person with a big heart. Thanks for having such wonderful people part of the Froedtert family.
