My father recently had his second back surgery within a month of each other. He had not been able to walk much because of pressure on his spinal nerves. After surgery, my father was taken to the 8th floor. We felt blessed. His surgery went well, and his nurse was Kelly Kreikemeier. She is an incredible nurse. She is kind and caring. She made sure my father was comfortable. She also made certain my mother and my sister felt comfortable. I am also an RN at another facility, so I pay close attention to communication between the family and the patient. Kelly was outstanding. She used AIDET, she answered questions. She made sure that we were able to talk to the caseworker regarding the need for Inpatient Rehab. To have a nurse who is a strong patient advocate is another great quality to possess. All nurses say they advocate for their patient, but actions speak louder than words. Kelly also spent time talking to my parents and joked with my dad. She was able to read him very well because that is what he needed. He loves "Honey Buns", the sweet rolls. He was talking about needing Honey Buns and coffee. The next day Kelly exceeded all of our expectations when she brought him Honey Buns and gave them to him. Kelly went above and beyond and provided exceptional care, because of this experience we would rate Immanuel as a "10". Kelly is the reason for a perfect rating.
